Tunde stepped closer, ignoring the protests.

“The baby’s neck,” he said quietly. “There’s something pressing from inside.”

The chief physician frowned. “The scans showed no foreign object.”

“Not in the throat,” Tunde replied, pointing to the small swelling. “It’s under the skin. A button, maybe. Or a small battery.”

Silence.

A senior doctor scoffed. “A street child diagnosing our patient?”

But Adebayo raised his hand. “Get the portable ultrasound. Now.”
