She Helps an Old Lady in the Street… Without Knowing It Was Her Boss’s Mother!

Mireille smiled. “She already is, I think. Just the fact that she raised you like this…”

He nodded, touched. “She sacrificed everything for me. I would be nothing without her.”

Mireille looked at him for a long moment, then said softly, “That’s why I agreed to meet you. A man who respects his mother is a man you can respect.”

Cyril felt warmth spread through his heart.

They went on talking for more than an hour, sharing their stories, their dreams, their wounds. The conversation flowed naturally. Time seemed suspended.

When the sun began to go down, Cyril stood up. “Thank you for coming. I really enjoyed this.”

“So did I. You’re different, and I like that.”

He smiled. Deep inside, Cyril already knew. This girl did not just have a good heart. She was real. She was unique. And for the first time in a long while, he felt happy.

The next morning, Mireille woke up smiling. She kept thinking about her meeting with Cyril the day before. There was something about him that had stayed with her. He was not like the others. He had nothing material, but he had a rare gentleness, honesty, and depth.

She was sweeping her little living room when her phone rang. Unknown number.

“Hello?”

A man’s voice, polite but professional, came through. “Good morning, Mireille. I am the deputy general manager of the company where you worked. I am calling on behalf of Mr. Cyril. He would like to speak with you.”

Mireille frowned. “Mr. Cyril?”

“Yes. He has reviewed the situation and recognizes that he made a mistake in firing you. He is offering to bring you back, but this time as the personal assistant to the CEO.”

Mireille froze. “What? Me?”

“Yes. And you can start tomorrow if you accept.”

She remained silent for a moment, her heart beating fast. She had moved on, but this was an opportunity she could not ignore.

“All right. I accept.”

“Perfect. See you tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the office.”

“All right.”

The call ended. Mireille stood there with the phone in her hand, still in shock. She immediately picked up her phone and called Mama.

“Hello, Mama. Good news!”

Mama’s voice was joyful on the other end. “Tell me everything, my daughter.”
